I remember that moment well……..I think every bride has at least one moment they aren’t proud of. But planning a wedding is a stressful time. Instead of stressing over it, we should all remember to relax and enjoy it. Remember, hopefully, you will only have this day once in your life!!! It should be cherished…….

I have friends that do it both ways…….I have also seen couples that after marriage combine their funds and end up getting divorced over it. We have always combined our funds and honestly it’s never been an issue with us. I guess it’s a personal decision and whatever works for you as a couple. I think though that there is usually one person that is more of the “keeper of the money” if you will. Someone that reconciles the bank statement and always has a better idea of what the bills are and how much money there is. In our relationship that would be me, but it works for us!!

Robbie – I completely agree. It would certainly make me assess the entire friendship – I’m fairly certain it is difficult to repair a friendship after this kind of thing.

I wouldn’t go to the wedding Being “fired” would make we “reassess” our friendship and I think I would find it lacking!!! She’s better off saving the money and going on a nice vacation, let’s see, maybe a cruise!!!

That is a fantastic idea…….a friend of mine actually rented her dress which is a good way to go for a bride on a strict budget, but why not buy a used
gown? No one will know unless you tell them and it can save the couple so much money……great find!!!!

It’s good to see the man’s perspective. I think that in some cases it’s ok for the woman to keep her name, as in, if she doesn’t the family name will not be carried on, but this only works if her name is given to the children. I’m not a big fan of the hyphenated name. Call me old fashioned but I think the woman should take her husband’s name and wear it with pride for as long as you are married. I think it’s a loving gesture and I’m proud to bear my husband’s name for the last 31 years!!
